Karthansk hærfører. Søn af Hanno, svigersøn til Hamilcar Barca (som han efterfulgte). Carthaginian general. Hasdrubal was the son-in-law of Hamilcar, and the brother-in-law of Hannibal, and functioned as the commander in chief in Spain from 228 to 221. His territorial advances came mainly through diplomacy, and he founded a new capital, New Carthage (Cartagena, Spain). He arranged an agreement with Rome on the borders of territories, so that this was fixed to the north at the river Ebro for Carthage's part. Hasdrubal was killed in a quarrel. |
