Blawenburg Church Kicks off a New Season

With its new pastor on campus and ready to go, Blawenburg Church will kick off its 2017 season Sunday, September 11.

“It’s an auspicious day for many reasons,” Pastor Jeff Knol said. “Here at Blawenburg Church, we will memorialize the historic date. Many in the Montgomery community have distinct and personal memories of the attack so close to home on that day 15 years ago. We will do our best to launch a new season in this historic church’s ministry with both solemn remembrance and excitement for what’s ahead.”

Beginning at 8:32 that morning, the church’s unique Family Breakfast Worship will start its new season. Families with young children are particularly encouraged to come to this `kid-friendly’ service and enjoy breakfast, too. There is no charge, though donations are accepted. The regular worship service begins at 10 am.

On September 15, Blawenburg Church’s third Thursday Blue Pomegranate Music and Art celebration will gather for its first-of-the-season sessions.

“Everyone is welcome,” says organizer Alan Taback. “We don’t care what color or religion you are or if you have no religion. Just come and enjoy. It’s guaranteed to lift your spirits and touch your soul.”

The Montgomery Ministries Music Ensemble will be on hand, featuring Andy Thurm on keyboard, Marty Kranansky on guitar, Laura Warren’s guitar and vocals, and vocals by Gina Williams and Angie Roberts. Several returning Blue Pomegranate visual artists will present new works. The session starts at 7:30 pm in Memorial Hall, the building next to the church. Refreshments will be served. There is no charge for admittance, though donations will accepted.

The church’s Blawenburg Village School starts its new season on September 9 with an orientation and family picnic.

“Although many of our classes have reached capacity, at this writing we still have openings for three-year-olds in our Buds class, and we’re excited about our Parent/Child class which starts on September 21,” says school director Karen Hill. And Blawenburg Church’s Men’s Breakfast starts again on the third Wednesday of the month, September 21. This gathering meets monthly at various local restaurants, starting this time at the newly reopened Red Oak Diner on Rt. 206, just south of Rt. 518.

“We have many guys from the community join us who have no affiliation with the church,” says organizer Joe Pavlicek. “They just like the fellowship and the good food.”

Blawenburg Church’s 10 am Sunday services take place in its historic sanctuary in the Village of Blawenburg on Rt. 518. For further information, visit www.BlawenburgChurch.org or call 609-466-1832.
