Florida.
AFM 6/89+7/89 :
F-16C (86-0274/WP) fra 8th TFW ved Kunsan,
Sydkorea, styrtede ned 14/2/89 14 km vest for Clark AFB, Filippinerne. Piloten
fra 35th TFS blev dræbt.
WAPJ 23/95 :
Air Force Reserve og Air National Guard har erstattet mange af sine F-16A/B
fly med nyere F-16C/D. F-16A/B er blev oplagret vedl AMARC eller solgt til
udlandet. Mindst 50 fly er blevet overført til Israel mens der er mere end
250 på lager.
WAPJ 41/00 : FY00-budgettet omfatter 10 F-16C/D.
Forhandler desuden om flerårig kontrakt på yderligere fly.
AFM 7/00 : USAF har bestilt 9 F-16C Block 50 hos
Lockheed Martin; option på yderligere 1.
ACC 11/00 : MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. (ACCNS) -
347th Wing er ved at omstille sig til en rescue wing. 70th
Fighter Squadron eksisterer ikke længere; F-16 fly fra 69th Fighter Squadron
bliver overmalet og overført til andre baser; 69th Fighter Squadron
deaktiveres efter planen 2/01 (fly vil være væk i 2001), efterfulgt af 68th
Fighter Squadron 4/01.
The 71st Air Control Squadron and 70th Fighter Squadron are
no more; ; and
the 479th Flying Training Group and the 820th Security Forces Group are here
and building up to their full strengths.
According to Lt. Col. Earle Thompson, 347th Wing Plans
chief, Moody will
look very different once the transition is complete.
The base will have T-38C and T-6 trainers belonging to the
479th; two
security police squadrons belonging to the 820th; and HH-60 helicopters and
HC-130P aircraft belonging to the 41st Operations Group.
The 347th Wing and all 347th-numbered
squadrons will inactivate and reactivate as the 41st Rescue Wing on May 1.
"So we will end up with the only active-duty rescue
wing in Air Combat
Command with two very large tenant units in the 479th Flying Training Group
and the 820th Security Forces Group," Thompson said. "Moody will
still be at
the pointy end of the sword as we continue to support our nation in the
achievement of its objectives, whether that be in pilot production, force
protection, or combat search and rescue any time, any place."
AFM 2/01 :
USAF indgik kontrakt med Lockheed Martin 26/12/00 for 4 F-16C Block 50
kampfly. Finansieres i FY01 og leveres 10/02>1/03.
AAC 5/2/01 :
69th FS under 347th Wing ved Moody AFB,
Georgia, blev de aktiveret 2/2/01. F-16C/D
kampfly overføres til 8th FW, Kunsan AB, Sydkorea.
JDW 29/01 :
Et F-16CJ jagerfly fra 20 FW, Shaw AFB, styrtede ned 6/7/01 ud for kysten af
North Carolina. Piloten blev dræbt.
JDW 31/01 :
Lockheed Martin har leveret de første 8 F-16 moderniseringssæt. Omkring 650
F-16C/D Block 40/50 får fælles cockpit og elektronik.
AFM 5/02 :
20th FW ved Shaw AFB, South Carolina,
vil miste en eskadrille i FY2003. Mister i alt 6 F-16 fly. 522nd FS fra 27th
FW ved Cannon AFB, New Mexico, vil
udskifte sine 18 F-165C/D Block 30 fly med Block 50 fly. Nationalgardens 174th
FS/185th FW i Iowa vil begynde at omstille fra 15 F-16C/D til 8 KC-135E
tankerfly. 178th FS/119th FW ved Hector IAP, Fargo i North Dakota, vil
erstatte sine 15 F-16A/B med 15 F-16C/D.
JDW 20/02 :
USAF har modtaget den første af 14 F-16 Block 50 kampfly, som blev bestilt i
FY00/FY01. Vil blive brugt til SEAD-opgaver.
AFM 11/03 :
Et F-16C kampfly fra 8th FW/35th FS styrtede ned i Det gule Hav 9/9/03 omkring
90 km fra Kunsan AB, Sydkorea. Piloten
skød sig ud med katapultsæde og blev reddet af CH-47D
helikopter fra det sydkoreanske luftvåben.
