COURTESY OF BAR BELLY
When it comes to creating cocktails for Valentine’s Day, Michael Flannery opts for Cognac as the base spirit. Flannery, the bar manager at Bar Belly in Manhattan, says it brings back memories from France, especially of a romantic boat ride on the Seine River, with a view of the Eiffel Tower.
His cocktail The Legacy is eyecatching. “I wanted to entice the eyes with romantic hues of red and enhance the palate with succulent floral notes for a romantic cocktail that will truly se the mood.”
1½ ounces D’usse Cognac
½ ounce Cocchi Rosa vermouth
½ ounce Nonino Amaro
½ ounce Wölffer Estate Verjus
5 drops Bittermens Burlesque Bitters
Stir all ingredients and pour into a coupe glass.
